To enhance the academic atmosphere, CRCS holds a weekly discussion in 2002. The initial idea was to give more space to students to learn from professional and experts whose ideas might not be heard in the regular classes. The forum was not only for guest speakers from all over the world but also CRCS professors and students. In 2006, we agreed with Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies (ICRS) to hold the discussion every Wednesday afternoon. CRCS-ICRS Wednesday forum provides space for the CRCS-ICRS community to learn more about a variety of topics in religion and culture.
The forum has hosted various speakers ranging from graduate students to prominent scholars on Indonesia and religious studies such as Martin Van Bruinessen, Mark Woodward, Farish Noor, Julia Howell, Robert Hefner, Peter Carey, etc. The forum is conducted in English and open for the public.
Every year we open two rounds of Wednesday Forum. First round starts from January to May. Second round starts from September to December. Anyone interested to present in the forum can send an application to the Wednesday Forum committee along with a 120-word abstract of the research and a brief CV.
