The current and ongoing circumstances in Iran are conjuring up the kinds of imageries of the sacred past that can be a powerful tool for socioreligious and political mobilization. Such imageries will inadvertently but most likely evoke deep sentiments in the hearts and minds of millions of both Shi’a and Sunni Muslims outside of Iran.
