Religion and Nature

In the last two decades, environmental issues and natural disaster have been a concern of global community. This research cluster tries to understand the connection between religion and environmental crisis and natural disaster. People from different background have tried to develop perspectives that enhance the idea of maintaining the natural resources. Religion is also considered as an important social aspect providing values for the society to deal with that issue. On that subject this research cluster attempts to explore various religious perspectives relating to environmental crisis or sustainable development. In relation to the issue of natural disaster, this research cluster explores variety of personal and community interpretations toward natural disaster, rituals to control disaster, and the role of religious values and religious philanthropy in disaster context. Besides those concerns, we also studies power and conflict in disaster management, especially among religious community actors.
