Mulanya hukum pidana hadir untuk melindungi rakyat dari kesewenang-wenangan negara. Dengan adanya hukum pidana, negara tidak boleh menghukum warga negara seenak udelnya. Kini, yang banyak terjadi justru negaralah yang menggunakan hukum pidana untuk merepresi rakyatnya. Sekarang, kita punya Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Pidana yang baru, bikinan kita dan tak lagi warisan kolonial. Lantas, sejauh mana KUHP baru ini berpeluang memajukan kebebasan beragama atau berkeyakinan di Indonesia?

In the modern world, the presence of a word in pub

In the modern world, the presence of a word in public can carry a heavy burden of meaning and ideology. Words no longer appear magically by combining letters. Every term or word we use, whether we like it or not; intentionally or unintentionally, seems to indicate which side we stand on. Take the choice of she/he or zhe for gender-neutral pronouns, or simply “choice” or “life” for abortion cases. These word choices become more acute when politics and religion get involved and present the gaps in identity that are on display. Words have divided our world. Citing an event recorded in the Bible, @bikerquin calls this phenomenon modern shibboleths. With him, this Wednesday we will uncover an identity politics that is present through words.

What if Saudi Arabia runs out of oil reserves? No problem, say the leaders of the House of Saud. After decades of being awash in petro-dollars, Saudi Arabia has realized that its oil is not eternal. Therefore, they are looking at other potentials that could become dollar mines: high technology and the Hajj. Of course, this transformation needs lubrication here and there. Every day we witness socio-religious changes in Saudi Arabia that we could not have imagined 20 years ago: women driving, boy band concerts in public spaces, and plans for a casino. So, does this transformation signal the collapse of religious conservatism in Saudi Arabia? To what extent does this lead to religious reform in the holy land where Islam originated?

Berakar pada kesadaran tubuh dan hubungan dengan ruang serta lingkungan, Amerta Movement mengutamakan spontanitas dan keterhubungan dalam gerakan sebagai bentuk eksplorasi diri dan meditasi.

Kami mengundang para peneliti, praktisi, dan individu dari berbagai latar belakang untuk berkontribusi dalam Call for Articles & Videos bertema “Amerta Movement” dari berbagai perspektif, termasuk Seni, Spiritualitas, Agama, Politik, Kesehatan, Psikologi, dan lainnya.
