Mahmoud Ayoub is Professor of Islamic Studies and Comparative Religion at Temple University in Philadelphia. He was born in 1938 in south Lebanon. A graduate of the American University of Beirut with an M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Ayoub earned his Ph.D. in the history of religion at Harvard University. He has been professor of Islamic studies for the Department of Religion at Temple University and Research Fellow at the Middle East Center of the University of Pennsylvania since 1988.
