The Moro

Wednesday Forum News Thursday, 22 December 2011

Mucha-Shim Quiling Arquiza

The emergence of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), which was founded by Nur Misuari in 1969, has brought new spirit for the Moro to gain their independent. Moro refers to 13 ethnic groups in southern Philippines (Mindanao Island, Sulu Island, Palawan, Basilan, and so on). MNLF organises armed rebellion against the Philippines government, demanding economic equality and independence as sovereign state.

Stereotype as an insurgent has created different reactions towards the repressive regime. Hostility, frustration, and primordial chauvinism are recorded into collective memories and have become legacy through generations. Those memories and legacies manifest in not only physical resistance but also visual art, graphic art, and oral narrative.

Religion, Violence and Peacebuilding: Menelisik Kembali Tragedi Ambon

Berita Wednesday Forum Thursday, 15 December 2011

Sumanto Al Qurtuby saat menjawab pertanyaan salah seorang peserta Wednesday Forum

Minggu 11 September 2011, Ambon kembali bergolak.

Religion, Violence and Peace Building: Analysis on Ambon Tragedy

Wednesday Forum News Thursday, 15 December 2011

Sumanto Al Qurtuby

On Sunday, September 11, 2011, Ambon was in turmoil again. It reminds us of a greater tragedy in January 1999. Some academic studies have been done to uncover the root of Ambon conflict. Most foreign researchers focused their research on social, political, and economic aspects. They viewed trade competition, bureaucracy and dispute over land as the causes of the conflicts that occurred in Ambon. In fact, the existence of the two communities (Muslims versus Christians) indicates the strong role of religion in the conflict.

A M P A T Baru kemarin, pemerintah YTTA melakukan A M P A T
For people who learn religious studies, it is comm For people who learn religious studies, it is common to say that "religion", as a concept and category, is Western modern invention. It is European origin, exported globally through colonialism and Christian mission. Despite its noble intention to decolonize modern social categories, it suffers from historical inaccuracy. Precolonial Islamic Malay and Javanese texts in the 16th and 17th century reflect a strong sense of reified religion, one whose meaning closely resembles the modern concept.

Secara satir, penyandang disabilitas baru mendapatkan sorotan ketika dia mampu berprestasi, mampu mengatasi segala rintangan dan kekurangan. Singkat kata, penyandang disabilitas kemudian menjadi sumber inspirasi bagi nondisabilitas. Budi Irawanto menyebutnya sebagai "inspirational porn". Simak ulasan lengkapnya di situs web crcs ugm.
Human are the creature who live between the mounta Human are the creature who live between the mountain and the sea. Yet, human are not the only one who live between the mountain and the sea. Human are the one who lives by absorbing what above and beneath the mountain and the sea. Yet, human are the same creature who disrupt and destroy the mountain, the sea, and everything between. Not all human, but always human. By exploring what/who/why/and how the life between the mountain and the sea is changing, we learn to collaborate and work together, human and non-human, for future generation—no matter what you belief, your cultural background.
