"AIDS dalam Islam": Sebuah Buku Karya Alumni CRCS

Berita Alumni Friday, 27 March 2009

"AIDS dalam Islam": A Book Written by CRCS Alumnus

Alumni News Friday, 27 March 2009

“AIDS dalam Islam” is a book written by Syamsu Madyan. He was a student at CRCS, batch 2004. In this book he acknowledges that AIDS is seen as a dreadful disease. It remains appalling until these days not only because a cure has not been found yet but also because it grows and spreads massively and uncontrollably. It victimizes not only the so-called sexual perverts but every element in our society: the young and the old, both the rich and the poor, male and female, and even innocent children.

This paper will discuss the representation of Islam in an American news paper The Arizona Republic. It will focus on what most The AZ Republic covered about Islam during 2005-2006 related to some major events in that period such as London bombing, on going war in Iraq, immigrant protests in France, Bali bombing two, conflict Israel-Palestine, tension with Iran, and Danish cartoon. It will concern on the recurrent language, text, and image in this news paper. The aim of this study is to identify the representation of Islam in American media testing the hypothesis that Islam and Muslims coverage in Western media is usually negative, or biased with certain ideological orientation. This also will identify whether Western media especially The AZ Republic is Islam-phobic. In order to examine the hypothesis systematically, I will apply both quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative approach is used in order to achieve certain patterns of The AZRepublic when covering about Islam relating to the major events by examining the recurrent language, text, and image of Islam and Muslim. All on- line news and articles in this period January 1, 2005- March 30, 2006 containing the words of Islam and Muslim are selected, classified, and percentaged based on its focus such as terrorism, women in Islam, social culture, domestic and international affairs. Also, I will conduct qualitative content analysis by using principals of critical discourse analysis (CDA) such as investigating the sociopolitical background of the discourse and and focusing on dominance relations by elite groups and institutions as they are being enacted, legitimated or otherwise reproduced by text and talk (Dijk, Teun A. van. 1993). This leads to determine the level of subjectivity, objectivity, or neutrality of the news and articles also highlight the complexities involved in constructing Islam and Muslim on The AZ Republic.

A M P A T Baru kemarin, pemerintah YTTA melakukan A M P A T
For people who learn religious studies, it is comm For people who learn religious studies, it is common to say that "religion", as a concept and category, is Western modern invention. It is European origin, exported globally through colonialism and Christian mission. Despite its noble intention to decolonize modern social categories, it suffers from historical inaccuracy. Precolonial Islamic Malay and Javanese texts in the 16th and 17th century reflect a strong sense of reified religion, one whose meaning closely resembles the modern concept.

Secara satir, penyandang disabilitas baru mendapatkan sorotan ketika dia mampu berprestasi, mampu mengatasi segala rintangan dan kekurangan. Singkat kata, penyandang disabilitas kemudian menjadi sumber inspirasi bagi nondisabilitas. Budi Irawanto menyebutnya sebagai "inspirational porn". Simak ulasan lengkapnya di situs web crcs ugm.
Human are the creature who live between the mounta Human are the creature who live between the mountain and the sea. Yet, human are not the only one who live between the mountain and the sea. Human are the one who lives by absorbing what above and beneath the mountain and the sea. Yet, human are the same creature who disrupt and destroy the mountain, the sea, and everything between. Not all human, but always human. By exploring what/who/why/and how the life between the mountain and the sea is changing, we learn to collaborate and work together, human and non-human, for future generation—no matter what you belief, your cultural background.
