Can a new ?Islamic State? succeed? To tackle this question, one has to look at what the traditional Islamic State was and why it worked so well for so many centuries until it ultimately collapsed. Only then can one understand why the idea is so popular today. Most importantly, one should be able to identify the major challenges that will face the new Islamic State.

Antara Wacana dan Praksis

Berita Alumni Friday, 8 May 2009

Between Discourse and the Field

Alumni News Friday, 8 May 2009

“For me, CRCS really helps me in shaping paradigms and preparing me to learn,” Marthen Tahun, a CRCS alumnus, said when he was interviewed by a member of the CRCS website team by phone, on Wednesday, 29 April. For him, a man born in East-Soe in 1972, his current job in American Friends Service Center (AFSC) is a continuing lesson, and CRCS has prepared him for such further study.

During the interview Marthen was in West Timor. He works with four institutions which are partners of AFSC in West Timor to support their programs. The institutions have different concerns, but principally their programs involve services to better society. For example, a commission of the synod of Gereja Masehi Injili Timor (GMIT), one of AFSC’s partners, has been a program to prepare and improve the capability of religious leaders in West Timor in facing social issues.

Umat Kristen Harus Hati-hati

Berita Wednesday Forum Sunday, 3 May 2009

Wednesday Forum, April 08, 2009.

K O S M O P O L I S Kosmo bermakna semesta, sement K O S M O P O L I S
Klop!

At first glance, religious conversion seems like a At first glance, religious conversion seems like a one-way process: a person converts to a new religion, leaving his old religion. In fact, what changes is not only the person, but also the religion itself. The wider the spread of religion from its place of origin, the more diverse the face of religion becomes. In fact, it often gives birth to variants of local religious expressions or even "new" religions. On the other hand, the Puritan movement emerged that wanted to curb and eradicate this phenomenon. But everywhere there has been a reflux, when people became disaffected with Puritan preachers and tried to return to what they believed their religion was before.
