Abstrak:

 

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi strategi dakwah yang diterapkan oleh Sunan Kudus ketika menyebarkan Islam di masa awal islam di Jawa dan model hubungan antaragama yang terbangun pada masa Sunan Kudus.

 

Islam di Kudus pertama kali disebarkan oleh para pedagang dari Arab dan Cina. Sebelum kedatangan Islam, mayoritas masyarakat Kudus beragama Hindu dan Budha, selain juga masih banyak pemeluk animisme dan dinamisme. Ketika Sunan Kudus datang, dengan kondisi masyarakat yang seperti itu, dia sadar bahwa Islam harus diajarkan dengan menggunakan tradisi-tradisi lokal yang ada. Dia berusaha memahami ajaran-ajaran agama yang sudah lebih dulu ada di Kudus sehingga dia bisa berdakwah namun tetap menjaga tradisi-tradisi yang ada untuk menciptakan harmoni dalam masyarakat.

Abstract
The concept of usury has a long historical life, throughout most of which it has been understood to refer to the practice of charging financial interest in excess of the principal amount of a loan, although in some instances and more especially in more recent times, it has been interpreted as interest above the legal or socially acceptable rate.
The problem is that usury practice is a phenomenon which has been a kind of cancer which undermine society. The practice of usury has always posed a problem. As we have seen, usury has now penetrated every sphere of the society we live in. In addition, usury is a topic which modern people have almost entirely forgotten, and which I do not find mentioned comprehensively in any books on Economics.
This thesis aims at drawing the fact that since Islam and Judaism stands for absolute justice, usury which is the result of exchange between money and money is definitely the root cause for injustice and hence forbidden. To reach the aim is conducted through normative –theological approach. It means the researcher tries to explain how the main scriptures of Judaism and Islam stipulate the usury supported by views of scholars of both religions. The method is library research.
The primary result of the thesis is, that based on the main sources of either Judaism or Islam, the criticism of usury in Judaism has its roots in several Biblical passages and in Islam in which the criticism of usury was well-established during the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) life and reinforced by various of his teachings in the Holy Qur’an. Besides, this study finds out the fact that usury is exploitative and has resulted in increasing inequalities in the distribution of income and wealth among the people.

Abstract
This thesis analyzes the detail of the concept of asceticism through the life and thought of two prominent persons of medieval period from different religious tradition in order to the relevance of asceticism and its applicability today. Abu Hamid al-Ghazali is an outstanding personality in the history of Islam who embarks on his mystical endeavor as an ascetic. Likewise, Francis of Assisi shocked the establishment of Catholic Church with his sheer asceticism. This comparative research is important because so many people nowadays consider asceticism, which was a religious virtue, no longer contextual. At the very least, they demand reinterpretation and redefinition. This belief is understandable at the first glance because the simple definition of asceticism is otherworldliness. However, when analyzed thoroughly, it turned out that asceticism has many configurations, gradations, and nuances.This thesis is a library-based research. The main source is writings in form of biographical accounts and thoughts of the aforementioned persons. The comparison of the two persons is conducted by comparing the history of Islam in the East and its counterpart in Christian West. Likewise, their ideas on asceticism are discussed in the framework of their history. The findings then are analyzed to determine the relevance of asceticism and its application today in the Indonesian context. This thesis discovers that as a phenomenon in almost all religions, distinctions can be made between one tradition to another. Such an assertion is also valid in case of al-Ghazali and Francis of Assisi. On the other side of story, like any history of ideas, external factor is contributory to the outcome. Thus, al- Ghazali’s and Francis of Assisi’s religious experience and social and political situations contribute dearly in shaping their ascetical concept and practice. It is no surprise that many scholars nowadays are on the opinion of the obsoleteness of asceticism, or at least they recommend different kind of asceticism. Nonetheless, there are minimal similarities among religions on asceticism. Moreover, modern humankind is now facing social and political situations in which asceticism grew at the first instance. To cut story short, asceticism remains relevant today. For this regard, al-Ghazali and Francis of Assisi had proposed solutions by practicing different gradations of asceticism depending on own situation and potential.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pandangan anak hasil pernikahan antaragama di daerah Yogyakarta dalam memaknai suatu agama dan bagaimana mereka mengaplikasikan sikap dan ekspresi keberagamaannya tersebut dalam kehidupan pribadi ataupun sosial kemasyarakatan. Adapun subjek penelitian berjumlah lima orang yang terdiri dari empat orang laki-laki dan satu orang perempuan dengan usia antara 20-25 tahun, semua sampel merupakan anak hasil dari pernikahan pasangan antaragama yang berasal dari lima agama besar (Islam, Kristen, Katolik, Hindu dan Budha), di daerah Yogyakarta.

Tesis ini memuat tema Pendidikan Agama dan Pluralisme dalam konteks komunitas sekolah-sekolah di Denpasar yang dikaji melalui pendekatan ilmu pendidikan dan agama. Penelitian ini bertujuan: pertama, mendeskripsikan konteks dan model penyelenggaraan pendidikan agama, baik dalam konteks siswa yang homogen mupun heterogen. Kedua, mengetahui penyelenggaraan pendidikan agama yang berwawasan pluralis di sekolah-sekolah tersebut. Ketiga, mengetahui hubungan dan pengaruh penyelenggaraan pendidikan agama yang berwawasan pluralis terhadap sikap, perilaku dan pandangan siswa yang menghargai pentingnya nilai-nilai plural. Penulis berasumsi bahwa masyarakat sekolah dalam melaksanakan proses pendidikan telah memiliki kesadaran tentang kontekstualisasi wacana pendidikan agama yang berwawasan pluralis. Penulis beranggapan bahwa kesadaran masyarakat sekolah tersebut sangat dipengaruhi oleh kontekstualisasi wacana multikultural yang berkembang di dalam masyarakat sosial.
