ABSTRACT
Indigenous peoples around the world are asserting their right to participate in environmental policymaking and climate change mitigation, from state-level governance to the United Nations. In this multimedia presentation, Colaciello discusses the journey that brought him to making media about the Global South and indigenous peoples leading this movement. He’ll also talk about his ongoing process of refining how he, as a non-indigenous storyteller, serves as an ally and interpreter.

Matt Colaciello is a digital storyteller from the United States. His work aims to amplify the voices of activists, educators, scientists, and indigenous peoples on the front lines of social and environmental justice. He regularly speaks at schools and universities around the world. In November, his work was screened at the United Nations COP32 climate summit in Bonn, Germany.
