Intersectoral Collaboration for Indigenous Religions (ICIR)

The 3rd International Conference on Indigenous Religions

7-9 December 2021

This 3rd conference invites researchers, academics, CSO activists, practitioners, and community members to share ideas, insights, knowledge, experience, and wisdom on issues relative to access to justice, more specifically on, but not limited to, the following topics:

  1. Indigenous Religions and other unrecognized religions: the need for inclusive religious freedom
  2. Interreligious relations: Examining interreligious misconceptions, stereotypes, and stigmas, mediating the divides, and engaging religious moderation.
  3. Gender expression and struggles: From domestic (violence), cultural, to ecological (in)justice.
  4. (Inclusive) citizenship in the making: policy, advocacy, and oligarchy
  5. Community empowerment: from civic and political to economic, social, and cultural rights.
  6. Ecological justice: from environmental degradation to social inequalities.
  7. The Pandemic, new normal and (in)equality: from education, healthcare to economic prosperity.

5 November 2021 Abstract acceptance notification
25 November 2021 Full papers submission
7-8 December2021 Conference
9 December 2021 CSO consolidation for coalition

A S (E L A) M A T Konon, Asmat berasal dari kata " A S (E L A) M A T
Konon, Asmat berasal dari kata "As Akat" dalam bahasa setempat yang berarti 'orang yang tepat'. Entah kebetulan atau ada akar bahasa turunan, kata "ismat" (عِصْمَة) dalam bahasa Arab artinya perlindungan dan kerap merujuk pada salah satu sifat manusia terpilih. Hompimpa etimologis tersebut menyiratkan bahwa keselamatan sudah menubuh dalam masyarakat adat Asmat. Namun, keselamatan rupanya punya banyak versi dan tidak selalu bersepakat, bahkan saling meniadakan. Apa pun versinya, keselamatan tak boleh menjadi alasan untuk menghapus memori, apalagi eksistensi. Keselamatan seharusnya membuka ruang baru untuk saling memahami.
