Mengenal Agama dan Mendalami Bahasa

“Secara umum CRCS bagus, pertahankan excellency-nya kecemerlangannya. Kalau ada suara-suara sumbang, itu biasa, jadikan masukan.” Demikian ungkapan, Ismail Yahya, alumni CRCS angkatan 2001, ketika ditanyakan mengenai pendapatnya tentang CRCS. Ia yang kini menjabat sebagai Ketua Jurusan Syariah Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Negeri (STAIN) Surakarta mengakui bahwa pengalaman kuliah di CRCS membantunya dalam menjalani pekerjaannya saat ini.

 

Selain menjadisalah satu pimpinan di STAIN Surakarta, Yahya juga menjabat sebagai ketua Indonesian Society for Religion and Civilization (ISRAC), pengurus Majelis Ulama Islam (MUI) Solo pada komisi Hukum dan Ekonomi Syariah, sebagai pengurus Masyarakat Ekonomi Syariah Surakarta (MESS). Kegiatan mengajar dan meneliti tidak luput pula dari berbagai jabatan tersebut.

“Generally, CRCS is good; it has kept its excellence, and its shines. If there are negative or positive criticisms from others, just make them as inputs or suggestions.”This is what Ismail Yahya opined, a CRCS alumni (2001), when asked what he thinks of CRCS. Yahya, who is the chairman of the Syariah Department at State Islamic College Surakarta, shared that his experiences studying at CRCS help him manage his work.

 

Aside from being one of leaders at State Islamic College Surakarta, Yahya is also the chairman of the Indonesian Society for Religion & Civilization (ISRAC), member of the board of Majelis Ulama Islam (MUI) Solo, of the Commission of Law & Economic of Syariah, and of the Masyarakat Ekonomi Syariah Surakarta (MESS). He also does researches.

The Difference and Dialogue in Christianity

Christians must relate to non-Christians with love and respect, engage in a humbler dialogue, and recognize the truth and holiness imparted by the Holy Spirit to all religions. This was one of the viewpoints mentioned by Mega Hidayati during the Wednesday Forum held on June 3, 2009. The title of her presentation was ?A Muslim View of Inter-Christian Dialogue.?

Based on her experience doing sandwich program at the Union Theological Seminary in New York, Mega saw that in Christianity there are many different views. For instance, in the evangelical debate, there are two dominant and different views which are exclusivism and inclusivism. She said that the exclusivists position Jesus Christ more as above all beliefs, while the inclusivists, including pluralists, deny the unique divinity or authority above everything.

Umat Kristen harus menjalin hubungan dengan umat non-Kristen, dengan cinta dan sikap menghargai, terlibat dalam dialog dengan kerendahan hati, mengakui kebenaran dan kekudusan yang disampaikan oleh Roh Kudus terhadap agama-agama lainnya. Demikian salah satu pandangan Mega Hidayati pada Wednesday Forum, 3 Juni 2009, dengan mengangkat topik diskusi ?Sebuah Pandangan Muslim terhadap Dialog Inter-Kristian.?

Berdasarkan pengalaman mengikuti sandwich program di Union Theological Seminary, New York, 2008, Mega melihat bahwa didalam kekristenan terdapat berbagai pandangan yang berbeda. Sebagai contoh, dalam perdebatan evangelikal, terdapat dua pandangan yang dianggap dominan dan berbeda satu sama lainnya, yakni ekslusivisme dan inklusivisme. Orang-orang yang dianggap eksklusif lebih menempatkan Yesus di atas kepercayaan lainnya. Sedangkan Inklusif, termasuk didalamnya pluralis, menyangkal adanya otoritas yang unik dan menguasai segalanya.

Kehidupan relasi keagamaan di Indonesia tahun 2008 masih banyak diwarnai praktik kekerasan (fisik). Sejauh catatan riset ini, kelompok Ahmadiyah adalah korban kekerasan keagamaan terbesar. Tidak kurang dari 20 peristiwa kekerasan menimpa kelompok ini. Kasus konflik keagamaan di seputar keberadaan rumah ibadah masih banyak. Dalam catatan riset ini setidaknya terdapat 12 kasus yang menyangkut masalah keberadaan rumah ibadah. Kekerasan juga masih terjadi pada kelompok agama lokal seperti di Yogyakarta dan di Sulawesi Tengah. Pemahaman tentang keberadaan kelompok agama-agama lokal dengan berbagai hak sivik yang melekat pada mereka merupakan pemahaman yang urgen untuk disosialisasikan di masyarakat. Tahun 2008 masih banyak diwarnai oleh praktik kekerasan terhadap perempuan yang antara lain disebabkan tafsir agama yang patriarkhis dan pandangan materialis yang menempatkan tubuh perempuan sebagai objek.

This working paper presents two interesting examples of ‘practices of pluralism’ in Indonesia. The Authors, Farid Wajidi and Darmiyanti Muchtar work in the NGO sector and participate in the Regional Team of the Promoting Pluralism Knowledge program in Indonesia. Both describe their engagement with the challenges they meet when trying to effectively promote pluralism in local communities.

Ada beberapa definisi menarik tentang raga di KBBI. Raga tidak hanya berarti tubuh seperti yang biasa kita pahami dalam olah raga dan jiwa raga. Raga juga dapat berarti keranjang buah dari rotan, bola sepak takraw, atau dalam bahasa Dayak raga berarti satuan potongan daging yang agak besar. Kesemua  pengertian itu menyiratkan raga sebagai upaya aktif berdaya cipta yang melibatkan alam. Nyatanya memang keberadaan dan keberlangsungan raga itu tak bisa lepas dari alam. Bagi masyarakat Dondong, Gunungkidul, raga mereka mengada dan bergantung pada keberadaan telaga. Sebaliknya, keberlangsungan telaga membutuhkan juga campur tangan raga warga.

Kosmo bermakna semesta, sementara polis itu mengacu pada kota yang seupil. Sungguh istilah oksimoron dengan daya khayal maksimal. Namun, nyatanya, yang kosmopolis itu sudah hadir sejak dulu dan Nusantara adalah salah satu persimpangan kosmopolis paling ramai sejagad. Salah satu jejaknya ialah keberadaan Makco di tanah air. Ia bukan sekadar dewa samudra, melainkan kakak perempuan yang mengayomi saudara-saudara jauhnya. Tak heran, ketika sang kakak berpesta, saudara-saudara jauh itu ikut melebur dan berdendang dalam irama kosmopolis. Seperti di Lasem beberapa waktu silam, Yalal Wathon dinyanyikan secara koor oleh masyarakat keturunan tionghoa dan para santri dengan iringan musik barongsai. Klop!
