CRCS & ICRS WEDNESDAY FORUM MELALUI VIDEO CONFERENCE DENGAN MONASH UNIVERSITY.
Kami mengundang mahasiswa CRCS dan ICRS, fakultas dan rekan-rekan lainnya untuk berpartisipasi dalam CRCS & ICRS Wednesday Forum minggu ini. Forum kali ini akan berbentuk video conference dengan Monash University, dan akan menghadirkan Dr. Melanie Landau (Dosen, Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation, Monash University) sebagai pembicara, yang akan berbicara tentang “Pengudusan Subordinasi: Pernikahan Tradisional Yahudi dan Alternatif-alternatif dalam Literatur-literatur Keimaman” Informasi mengenai forum ini dapat dibaca dibawah ini.

Abstrak:
Traditional Jewish marriage as practiced today− and the only form of marriage officially recognized and sanctioned for Israeli Jews marrying in the State of Israel− is based on an acquisition- like, non-reciprocal arrangement developed by the ancient rabbis. Marriage and its acquisition- like nature is understood in divergent ways by ancient rabbis and throughout the development of Jewish law. This paper will explore the main elements of traditional Jewish marriage, including the aspect of the acquisition of the woman by the man, as elaborated in ancient and medieval rabbinic texts. It will also go on to examine two models of partnership that partially and fully bypass the acquisition.
