Wed Forum: In Defense of Religious Freedom

Wednesday Forum News Tuesday, 18 August 2015

Wed Forum, Aug. 26th 2015

ABSTRACT
One of the major fears about religious freedom, especially in a country, that values harmony, such as Indonesia, is that there is a conflict between religious freedom, on one hand, and social harmony and economic prosperity, on the other. The latest scientific research offers strong reason to allay this fear: it indicates that religious freedom strengthens other human right, leads to better economic outcomes, and lowers social conflict.”

SPEAKER

The most recent out of many books he wrote are Persecuted: The Global Assault on Christians (2013, with Lela Gilbert and Nina Shea), Silenced: How Apostasy and Blasphemy Codes Are Choking Freedom Worldwide (2011, with Nina Shea), and Religious Freedom in the World (2007). His writings have been translated into many languages from Russian, German, to Japanese, Malay, Korean, Arabic, Farsi, and Chinese. He appears in television programs in ABC Evening News; CNN; PBS; Japanese Broadcasting Corporations; and Al Jazeera. His work has been published in the New York Times, Wall St. Journal, Washington Post, and many others. HeadlineNews Tuesday, 18 August 2015

Presented by Ronald Gilliam, Online Development Coordinator – Center for Southeast Asian Studies, University of Hawai′i at Mānoa.
Social Network pinned on noticeboard
In the past ten years, social networking sites have gained in popularity, but many users have yet to learn the efficacy behind strategic social networking. Surprisingly, few academics and educational administrators use free social networking sites despite that the majority of students have daily interaction in online social communities. This presentation aims to showcase various social networking technologies and how they may be applied in an academic setting. The Center for Southeast Asian Studies social networking strategies on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest and Vimeo will be used as resources for our discussion and we will explore examples of how to create social networking strategies to maximize engagement.

Human are the creature who live between the mounta Human are the creature who live between the mountain and the sea. Yet, human are not the only one who live between the mountain and the sea. Human are the one who lives by absorbing what above and beneath the mountain and the sea. Yet, human are the same creature who disrupt and destroy the mountain, the sea, and everything between. Not all human, but always human. By exploring what/who/why/and how the life between the mountain and the sea is changing, we learn to collaborate and work together, human and non-human, for future generation—no matter what you belief, your cultural background.

R A G A Ada beberapa definisi menarik tentang raga R A G A

K O S M O P O L I S Kosmo bermakna semesta, sement K O S M O P O L I S
Klop!

At first glance, religious conversion seems like a At first glance, religious conversion seems like a one-way process: a person converts to a new religion, leaving his old religion. In fact, what changes is not only the person, but also the religion itself. The wider the spread of religion from its place of origin, the more diverse the face of religion becomes. In fact, it often gives birth to variants of local religious expressions or even "new" religions. On the other hand, the Puritan movement emerged that wanted to curb and eradicate this phenomenon. But everywhere there has been a reflux, when people became disaffected with Puritan preachers and tried to return to what they believed their religion was before.
