Abstract:“Religious Discourse, Social Cohesion and Conflict from Religious Studies to Inter-religious Studies”

According to some scholars there is a global resurgence of religion. Moreover there seems to be a growing tension between religions. It is not clear why this is so. I will argue that the classical ways of studying religions and inter-religious relations are not helpful to understand religious dynamics in a post-colonial and post-modern world. The main problem is the underlying essentialism and objectivism of religious studies thus far. I will argue for a narrative theory of religion and for critical discourse analysis as an appropriate method for understanding religious identity constructions in inter-religious relations.

What if healing isn’t about fixing the self, but What if healing isn’t about fixing the self, but remembering we were never alone?
Stories of students, suffering, and spiritual friendship might unfold into a quiet revolution: from therapy rooms to circles of compassion. Drawing on Buddhist psychology — Karuna, Anatta, Kalyanamitta — this talk reimagines mental health not as survival, but as shared awakening. A vision of care rooted in community, tenderness, and courage to belong again.
